Christopher was called in 2004 and joined St John’s Chambers a year after completing his pupilage at another Bristol set. He specialises in Chancery.

“St John’s has an excellent reputation but that wasn’t the only reason I joined the set. Here you’re really encouraged to take your practice in the directions that interest you from an early stage in your career – which makes things far more interesting, inspiring and rewarding.

“The clerking at St John’s Chambers is excellent too. The clerks deal with the day to day running of barristers’ diaries, as you might expect, but in addition they take a very active role in practice management and development.

“We’ve advanced IT facilities too, which are a great help. I can work from home as often as my diary permits, yet still access our online facilities, including fax and voicemail, email and diary. There are comprehensive library facilities in Chambers too, which are essential in our increasingly competitive market.
“Of course, the most significant advantage I’ve noticed is the growth in my practice. Not only can I specialise in the areas of law that inspire me the most but I get to deal with cases which are of a relatively senior level for someone of my call. And being part of St John’s Chambers has helped me win business at the more senior levels.

“The new contemporary offices and modern facilities really underline what a forward looking place St John’s is and I enjoy that atmosphere too, which is friendly, approachable but highly professional too. This really helps when it comes to building strong successful relationships with instructing solicitors and their lay clients.

“Recently I’ve moved to Gloucestershire, having lived in Bristol for a number of years. The city’s a vibrant and exciting place to live and work, with a friendly yet competitive local bar to challenge your skills”. Tenant’s CV
