Zoe Saunders
Zoe Saunders is a Junior Barrister specialising in Family Law. She joined St John’s Chambers from a London set in 2004.
“I did my pupilage in London but to be honest was disappointed with the amount of court experience I was getting, so I decided to change to Family Law and come to St John’s.
“It was a good choice. The set’s reputation attracts high quality professional clients and cases – and I get to do far more “senior” work than I would have done, had I stayed in London.
“Invariably I’m up against more senior people in court and especially so in London, where as often as not my opponents must have come to the bar before I’d even left school!
“I relish the challenge of taking on the more difficult cases and opponents – and I know I can always talk through tricky aspects with more senior members of my department over a cup of tea if I need to.
“That’s one of the things that struck me about St John’s from the start. It’s very friendly and supportive, with a rather refreshing lack of pomposity that’s still so evident in some Chambers!
“In fact the set’s whole approach is very modern. I really like the way the Chambers are so keen to embrace new technology for example. It makes life a great deal easier.
“And then there’s Bristol. The city was another important reason I joined St John’s. I could write for hours about it but let’s just say Bristol’s an excellent place to live and work”. Tenant’s CV
