Having completed a mini-pupillage at St John’s when I was at university in Bristol, I knew that chambers’ atmosphere was both welcoming and friendly. St John’s is very accommodating if you are unsure of what area you wish to specialise in (in fact you are encouraged to see a variety of disciplines and legal areas) which was very appealing for someone who had not originally done a law degree. Crucially for me, St John’s has an excellent reputation for family law (my particular interest) and it is very different to many other chambers: it is modern and has good online resources allowing barristers to work from home if they wish to. The atmosphere here is professional but fun and pupillage is busy and very interesting.
